Safe Deposit Box Service !

MALAYSIA'S first 24-hour safe deposit box service - mySAFEBOX - will start operating its first centre in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, today.

"Customers can come and open their safe deposit boxes (SDB) either to pick up items or to store them at any time of the day or night throughout the year," mySAFEBOX founder, Mr Gan said in a statement.

He said the company has invested over RM5 million to incorporate the latest security and safety features at the centre to give customers peace of mind, and offers convenience in terms of location.

The centre in Taman Serdang Raya will cater primarily to the estimated 450,000 residents of Seri Kembangan and neighbouring areas.

"With the availability of this facility, we hope we can create a greater awareness amongst members of the public on the proper way of safe keeping their valuable belongings," Tan said.

"With such awareness, we believe the security and safety of this area will be improved."

Besides well-trained armed security personnel, the building has more than 40 closed-circuit TV (CCTV) cameras feeding images to a central monitoring system that is manned round the clock.

The central monitoring system is also linked to the police and fire and rescue department with fixed lines and wireless telephones.

The safe deposit boxes are on the first and second floors.

To gain access, customers have to go through a number of security control procedures, including inspection by advanced bio-matrix security systems for face and fingerprint recognition.

The vault itself has been built with 13 inch strong walls using special reinforced materials such as checked plate, tank bar and strong wall concrete.

"The company plans to set up three similar centres in the Klang Valley over the next 12 months and 100 more throughout the country over the next five years," it added.
